Recently, I happened to read a very fine biography of Former Premier of Pakistan Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto by Stanley Wolpert named
, ‘Zulfi Bhutto of Pakistan: His life and times’. Here, it is worthy of mention that Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto was the founder of Pakistan People Party and is considered no less than a legend in the political history Pakistan. He was the one who happened to influence not only the history of Pakistan but world as well in many different ways. Be it the Atomic program of Pakistan or Pan-Islamic dream, one can find Zulfi Bhutto behind it. “No individual in the history of Pakistan–indeed, few people in modern history–have achieved greater popular power or suffered so ignominious a death as Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. Bhutto’s political rise and fall were so meteoric that his name became a legend in the land he once ruled.” writes Stanley Wolpert.
Stanley Wolpert is a American Historian who specializes in history of India and Pakistan. He has a Ph. D. from in history from Universiy of Pennsylvania and teaches at University of California, Los Anegels.
In this very well written book, the author has given the major highlights of Pakistan’s political history in context of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto. While reading this, one can carry many different impression and in my case, I came to conclude one important generalization in the life of Bhutto that Zulfiqar Bhutto was impulsive in his nature and stubborn fellow with a certain amount of arrogance that offered him extremes of self confidence. This was his weakness and his this weakness was his strength that happened to be his secret of rise as well as fall.
In last, I would say that this book is worth worth an addition to the library of those who are interested in History of Pakistan. I loved the way it is written and would like to recommend it since it can prove a very good source of understanding of Pakistan.

In my point of view the things we wear are very important since they tell others about us. I have seen many fellows who stay careless in such matters and it use to reflect negatively on them. It is due to this reason that I stay particular about things I buy for myself. To me it is all about looks, style with comfort.
The other day, I came across cavenders.com and found products available with them a very fine mix of looks, style and comfort. In fact, I was searching for Justin boots and I landed at Cavender’s. I was really impressed with the variety available with them. I would say, you must visit their site and I am sure you will like it too as I do.

About English written and spoken skills, I would say if you want to learn how to write, write and if you want to improve spoken skills, speak. Dear Dr. Sahib. I am a regular visitor of your blog but its the first time i am writing on it. I told my mom about U and the great advisory forum U have made for us aspirants of css.She replied by praying for your goodwill and said that ALLAH blesses people like U. I have made my mind focused on the css exam and have closed all other options. I have an excellent academic record by the grace of Almighty ALLAH and am willing to fulfill my and my family dreams by persuing my career as a csp officer. There are a couple of questions from me to start with our elecronic relationship. Q1: What were your optional subjects for your css exam? Q2: What would u suggest to me as a daily routine exercise for the preparation of css other than attending an academy?
GOD bless U and regards

How many times can one appear for the CSS exam ?? approx what if required? Plus is home study better for prep or the academy is must for that . I dont have any guidance about books. There are 10-15 books mentioned in the css website! I hardly will be able to know wch one of them is the best. My subjects are going to be eng lit/indo-pak history/journalism/business adm…. as opt , i wanna ask if Eng Lit is a scoring subject ?? or not bcz in B.A our lit marking was really very tough.. but i like lit and can study it better. Plus what book should i consult for P.affairs and current affairs???? Plz someone tell me, I dont have anyone in my family doin CSS so i dont know anything about this stuff. I want to prepare in 2009 exam. I wanted to appear after MBA but my father suggests that I should appear in 2009. Plus do i have enough time for the prep? Which academy in isb is best for me(i hv heard something like National officers but i dont know whats right, plz guide me) I am very worried because in my family almost everyone had done medicine and no one has a slight idea about CSS. My father who is an army doctor is sooo unaware that he says “CSS is the easiest thing you can do” and i know its not like that. lol. I dont want to fail this time because i did not qualified for nust although my marks were good in FSc. It was really bad! Plz guide me properly. I am totally depending upon your advice and info.
Take care
Maria
Dear Maria,
One can enjoy three attempts when it comes to CSS. I will answer your queries in sequence one by one. 1. I would say study is required be it home based or an academy there is no general rule but I would say academy helps as in my case it helped me a good deal. 2. For rules and Syllabus click here. 3. About scoring subjects, I would say all are scoring provided one has prepared well. 4. For Pakistan Affairs, I happened to study a book named “Pakistan Affairs” by Sohail Bhatti and in case of Current Affair, reading Dawn daily thoroughly can provide much need material and I think it is more than enough. 5. Moreover, yes your father is right, give it a try in 2009. 6. Yes you do have enough time for prepare and appear in 2009 and pass it with flying colors. 7. I have heard good things about Zavia don’t know about National officers academy. 8. Don’t worry and yes your father is saying right since he is a Doctor. As I have done medicine, I think the same way so all you need to do is to look into the eyes of beast named CSS with courage and determination. This is it and I think it will clear a lot of confusion. Do let me know if you need any further assistance. I wish you good luck!
Dear sir,
i have just started prepation for CSS examinaiton with english and Indo-pak history subjects. in english i am referring books of grammer, idioms and practical uses. for indo-pak history i have book of Prof K-Ali would you like to add something in the preparation of these two subjects.

Dear Mukhtiar,
I think in both these subjects the things you are reading are enough. Apart from this I would recommend you to have a look at the book named “High School Grammar” by Wren and Martin. In my case it helped me a good deal, I hope it will help you too.

Dear Imran,
The skill lies in practice and with practice you can develop the way that can help you a lot. About notes, I would say the best notes are ones that are prepared by the person who is using them so depend on books and prepare you own notes, I can say out of experience that this the way that can help you a good deal.

I am glad that you are thinking critically and if you persist, you can make it with flying colors. In case of English, you must practice writing as much as you can since it is the only way to improve it. For books on Grammar, go for ‘High School Grammar’ by Wren and Martin, this book is ideal for CSS. About everyday sicne, numerous books are available around. Do visit Mujahid Book Store at Neem Ki Charhi and you will find all the required stuff there. Do let me know if you have any other query. I wish you all the best.

How Police in Pakistan can help?

Its been quite sometime that I have started working on some project with District Police Department of my home town and this has offered me a chance to look into the situation around. Having observed things around, I have come across a fact that if a Police officer in Pakistan is upright and honest, he can provide relief to lots of people and make a huge difference but unfortunately, there are very few who think so and follow the honest policy.
In my view, corruption is every where and we can not deny its presence in our system too but I believe that a lot can be done and as observed by me, many good individuals are trying a good deal to do the things right. I am optimistic that things will take positive turn in due course of time and we need friends who can support this idea since by calling we will do no good to our system. Only practical approach can help. What do you think?

I am a blogger and in most of the cases, I have found that bloggers are at their on when it comes to managing their blogs. Same is the case with me; it’s more like a one man show for me. Be it writing post or uploading files with my web host, I am the one who has to look after everything.
My regular readers are aware of the fact that only recently; I have registered the domain name for me and purchased a web hosting plan. The decision of finding a cheap and reliable host was very important and I was no more than a layman in this context so I started searching for information on this very important subject. To my satisfaction, I found some very good stuff on some website and among them webhostingrating.com is worthy of mention. They have a dedicated section on web hosting articles. I found them helpful in making my decision. Apart from this, if someone is interested in gaining in depth knowledge on issues related to web hosting, he can find them equally well. Dear Aminullah,
In most of the cases, one has to answer five questions in a paper. One had three hours at his disposal for writing answers. When I had given my papers, I used to plan my answers initially. One question among five is that of MCQs and for that little time is required. It is up to you to decide to how much time you ought to give to this question. Having decided about the time you want to dedicate to MCQs, you can divide remaining time equally to remaining four questions. This what I did in my papers

As for as I know the maximum age for CSS is 28 year and by June 2, 2008 you will reach that mark so technically speaking you will not be eligible for the examination in 2009. This is my personal opinion after reading the rules so you must confirm it from some other fellow too.

About CSS being difficult, I would say, it is challenging and tough but not impossible. This year a blind lady Saima Saleem pass it and earned 6th position in

I would suggest you to please have the list of all the optional subjects, note down the subjects of your interest and once done with it get hold of the past papers and have a look at them and decide if you are interested in that particular subject of not. Dear Ali,
In your case, I would say, you will never find the matter arranged your way. You need to do the research and collect required stuff and then write. This is the only way I know. Apart from this, in case of some issues that are of vital importance, you can have a book named Contemporary Affairs by M. Imtiaz Shahid. In that book you can have much required information that can be used in CSS Essays paper as well as current affairs paper. I hope it will help you. One more thing, this book is a series and you must buy the most recent edition to gain the best output.

Exploring myself

I am in Khairpur and I am spending all my time on my self. It is for the first time that I am working on myself. It is not that I have never worked on myself but this time, it is nothing about course work or anything else. It is that I am thinking, trying to explore myself and considering this period of few months very valuable, sort of once in lifetime opportunity.
At the moment, I am trying to write my personal mission statement that can provide me a framework for all my activities and roles I am playing today as well as in future. The idea of personal mission statement was in head since I read about it in Stephan Convey’s Seven Habits of Highly effective People way back in, I think, 2000 but never worked on it. It is only recently that I am serious about one so that I can organize my life in a way that is suitable for me and for all those who are related to me in some or other way.
I think writing a mission statement is not that easy, it is a bit difficult, it is like exploring one’s self to its fullest and then encapsulate that diverse and expanded self in few lines. Above all, it is a very good activity, its like I am exploring myself and it is enjoyable. In fact more than enjoyable, it is rewarding and that’s why I am motivated to an extent that I am spending hours and hours and hours thinking.
Lastly, I would say, I am not sure how long it will take to get the finished product but I am enjoying the whole process and would recommend that you should try doing it and you will definitely love it.
